Program Assistant, Orgullo Latinx Pride Youth Program
Full-time Bilingual Position Available Immediately
Based in Chatham County

EVH seeks a dynamic, talented, and highly motivated individual as a full-time Program Assistant for the Orgullo Latinx Pride Youth Program (OLP). The Program Assistant works closely with and reports to the OLP Program Director. Orgullo Latinx Pride is a free year-round program that works with approximately 60 Latinx high school students from 9th to 12th grades. OLP will be offered at two Chatham County High Schools – Jordan Mathews in Siler City and Seaforth in Pittsboro. The goals of Orgullo Latinx Pride are to:

  1. Improve academic achievement and prevent school dropout.
  2. Empower youth to pursue a higher education.
  3. Increase access to higher education by helping students with the entire college application process
  4. Empower parents to support their youth’s’ pursuit of a higher education.
  5. Increase civic engagement and leadership skills.
  6. Increase self-esteem, cultural pride, and critical thinking skills.
  7. Expand youths’ horizons through educational and cultural field trips.


The Program Assistant will provide support and work in partnership with the Program Director to:

  • Organize events, field trips, community service initiatives, tutoring sessions, and other activities.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings, develop lesson plans, and co-facilitate youth meetings.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts of youth members through outreach activities.
  • Participate in other organizational activities and events as needed.
  • Help youth with the college application process, including grants, loans, and scholarships.
  • Provide educational and emotional support to youth through individual check-ins.
  • Develop a supportive relationship with youth and their families.
  • Coordinate communication and reminders for youth members and parents about OLP activities.
  • Work with Communications Manager to update social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with other non-profit, governmental agencies and youth-serving organizations.
  • Utilize database and excel spreadsheets to track program and youth data.
  • Monitor grades on PowerSchool and send progress reports to parents via text messages.
  • Document OLP activities through pictures, youth testimonies, feedback surveys, videos, etc.
  • Help prepare reports for the board of directors and funders.


  • A. or B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2-years’ experience working with youth
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English (must be able to speak, read and write)
  • Knowledgeable about college enrollment and financial aid application processes (FAFSA, RDS, CSS Profile)
  • Able to communicate with and relate to youth from varying socio-economic backgrounds, gender orientations, and immigration status
  • Knowledgeable about Latinx community and Latin American culture
  • Critical thinker who can drive projects to fruition with a high standard of excellence
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Openminded and able to motivate youth
  • Able to relate to immigrants’ experiences
  • Team player
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong commitment to EVH’s mission

Desired Attributes:

  • Knowledgeable about racial and gender equity principals
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising a plus
  • Experience in volunteer management a plus
  • Experience driving 15 passenger van (not required)


  • EVH will perform a background check prior to the start of employment

Compensation: Salary range of $36,000 to $40,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance with optional vision and dental, 10 days paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, 12 days sick leave.

Program & Volunteer Coordinator
Part-time (25hrs/week) Bilingual Position Available Immediately
Based in Lee County

EVH seeks a talented and motivated Program & Volunteer Coordinator to assist in implementing programs, offering services to the Latinx community and managing volunteers in Lee County. This position is part-time at 25 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to full-time in the future. The ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish is required. The Program & Volunteer Coordinator reports to EVH’s Deputy Director.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing our Community Support Program that offers direct services to community members.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts on behalf of our constituents.
  • Represent EVH at community meetings as needed.
  • Participate in community outreach and presentations to our constituents and community at large.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise EVH volunteers and/or interns.
  • Help organize and coordinate events.
  • Maintain client and volunteer database up to date.
  • Assist in updating EVH’s social media pages.
  • Participate in fundraising and other organization activities, as needed.
  • Assist the Deputy Director with administrative duties, as needed.
  • Attend trainings to advance professional and leadership skills.


  • College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English (must be able to speak, read and write)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in related skills
  • Ability to work with persons of varying socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Organized, strategic and team player
  • Able to relate to immigrants’ experiences
  • Knowledgeable of Latin American cultures
  • Able to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Strong commitment to EVH’s mission

 Compensation: annual salary range of $21,000 to $22,750 for 25 hours/week; commensurate with experience.
